ASHI: Water

ASHI: Radon

WATER
According to the EPA, there is no such thing as naturally pure water.  Water can pick up a number of substances that it touches in streams, lakes, or rivers.  And while many of these substances are not dangerous, at certain levels they can make water unpleasant or even unsafe.

At Piedmont Home Inspections, we can test your water to ensure that it meets all standards set forth for drinking water.  This test, performed at a water sampling lab, will test your water for a number of bacterium including coliform, fecal, and e.coli.

Also available are FHA and VA lender requirement tests for lead, nitrates, and nitrites.

RADON
On January 13, 2005 the Surgeon General of the United States issued a Health Advisory concerning the health risk from exposure to radon in indoor air, noting that more than 20,000 Americans die of radon-related lung cancer each year.

At Piedmont Home Inspections, we set testing devices to measure the ongoing level of radon in the home using EPA approved devices.

SEPTIC TANK
To test a sub-surface septic system we flush the system with a large amount of water containing a tracer dye to test whether any septic spillage is present above ground.

CARBON MONOXIDE (CO)
Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless chemical that can cause death.  CO testing is a service that is performed with a normal home inspection.  This test determines if the appliances in the home are releasing harmful levels of carbon monoxide in the air.   In addition, this test can be performed as a stand alone inspection.

Every home with a gas or oil appliance should have the CO levels tested.
